What is this course, when does it start and how long does it last?
This course runs from January 2017 with options to complete in either August or December 2017. The course is focused on the wide and developing ‘football industry’. Whilst the content is varied and gives a broad foundation into higher level studies there will be a keen focus on studying ‘through football’ with an emphasis on giving students an experience of the industry in a range of contexts. Applicants will need to have a keen and active involvement in football and be committed to pursuing this as an area of work and employment presently or in the future.
What are the entry requirements?
All students will complete a formal application and be assessed on an individual basis. Students will need to demonstrate an ability to be able to further their own personal and professional development within the football industry for example* through coaching, youth and/or performance development, business management (e.g. marketing and promotions), performance analysis, exercise science or rehabilitation. Students must be able to demonstrate an ability to work both independently and in groups.
As your programme may involve you working with and coaching children and adults, you will be required to undertake a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check.

BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Sport (Coaching & Sports Development).
What will I study?
You will engage in some independent, distance and/or online learning as well as working in whole and small group teams. Classes will be made up of a mixture of lectures, taught and theory seminars and discussion groups as well as practical, reflection and private study. You will be required to plan, deliver and evaluate in a range of practical settings and environments as well as prepare by researching and reading as directed by teachers (otherwise known as pre-reading or flipped learning activities).
Students will be encouraged throughout the curriculum to be active in their skills-development and should be actively involved in personal and professional development within the football industry. Students will need to be able to balance their working and/or professional commitments with academic study. The content of the programme is broad and varied including study in the following fields:
