In your corner...

1 in 4 of us will fight mental health problems this year. Having a mate in your corner can make all the difference. So, if your mate’s acting differently, step in.

The PFA is encouraging men to be in their mate’s corner and be more open to and supportive of the 1 in 4 of us who are fighting a mental health problem.

It’s too easy to dismiss mental health problems as something that happen to other people. But, the 1 in 4 statistic shows that it can happen to any of us. And without support from those around them, people with mental health problems can lose what they care about most: their job, their families and friends, their home.

When a mate is going through these kinds of experiences, he needs his friends more than ever. Now’s when you’re needed most.

Here are three simple ways you can do it:

  1. Ask how they are
  2. Listen without judging
  3. Be yourself. Don’t change as a friend
